Non Exec board members seem to be under pressure from two sides. On one side shareholders and government criticise non Execs for failing to properly monitor their organisations. And on the other side senior managers criticise non Execs for failing to add value to their organisations. Yet there are models for good governance and policy direction, which all boards - and both non Exec and Exec members can learn from them.
Q. Learning believes the common factor with all types of governing bodies is the uniqueness of their role. Good governance is a result of active strategic leadership. It should be creative and always looking ahead whilst being confident about the present.
